A NEW CONCEPT
KENOTE CONCERTSJust what is a Keynote Concert? It is a combination of storytelling, teaching, and singing that encourages audiences to get involved experientially in what they are learning.

BEen There Done That?
As is all too common, I was ignoring the quiet desperation of my life, telling myself, “it’s all fine, it’ll all be fine,” all the while allowing the suppressed agony to spew out upon everyone around me, including those I considered most precious, my family. I’ve written an entire chapter in a best-selling book about this. Suffice it to say for now that things were not fine, as I soon found.
This was not my first experience with things I had so carefully put together blowing up in my face, but I was determined it would be the last. It may come as a surprise to our reader, as it did to me, that, upon close examination, the single common denominator to all of these experiences was me. And so I set out to delve deeply into myself, and learn what I could do to change those aspects of myself and my personality that were repeatedly leaving me in this condition.
In the midst of this realization and the beginning of my journey of redemption, I dealt with extracting myself from a fifteen year business relationship (I was by this time acting as General Manager of a friend’s multi-million dollar a year company) as well as finding an amicable end to a twenty year life partnership that had frayed beyond saving due to the aforementioned issues. As a result of the personal growth I have experienced in this journey, she and I are still best friends.
LIVING A BALANCED LIFE
I am by no means claiming to have arrived at some lofty place where I live in constant bliss, nothing bothers me, and all’s right with the world. Rather I have learned enough about myself, both sunlight and shadows, about what triggers me and how to notice it before it gets out of hand, and most importantly I have learned how to self-regulate in the face of these and other challenges to as to take charge of my own emotional state instead of constantly being tweaked and led my the external environment.
And these are all things that anyone can learn. While a full understanding and resolution is beyond the scope of an hour or two, or even a weekend or two, my keynote concerts can engage people in the understanding that change and growth are possible, valuable, achievable, and show them how to put their feet on the path and take their first steps.
Love and Compassion
Joe’s goal in giving a keynote concert is to create a space where people can feel safe to really look at themselves and their lives, as they listen to stories from his own. The starting point for change is self examination. No, he won’t be asking them to share their intimate details, this is not group therapy! Rather he will be suggesting that they include in their note taking anything that strikes a chord with them, and how it relates to their own lived experience.
Love and compassion are key elements of a life lived in balance, starting with love and compassion for oneself. Extending these emotional qualities to others, to conditions and situations we encounter, and to life itself, are further steps along the way. In sharing his stories and insights, Joe allows others to see that it is possible to shift outcomes by shifting perspectives.
